Tell me if you are one of those people who love to do hand sewing and hand quilting. When I was young and little my mom tried to teach me how to do our traditional hand sewing and hand quilting. Of course they very different then the American quilting but still the same principal. You use a needle and thread to piece together some different fabrics. Eeemmm .... honestly, not much success in mom part. I am more into reading a book then anything else. She must be very disappointed me being her first born and trying to teach me the important trade of our people and here I am not interested with anything of that sort.
Well ... served me right. When I moved to Texas I told my DH I want to learn how to sew and quilt. I never seen a man with all the enthusiasm and support for his wife wishes. He bought me a brand new Singer machine and found me a quilt guild to join to. He either looking forward to be left alone for a few hours once a week and so he can do whatever he wanted to do and without me nosing around or he just too happy that I am interested in sewing and quilting. One of the lady at my quilt guild last month said that I am no longer a beginner but a confident beginner. Eeeemmm ... you think she is right? I will says, I am in my 3rd grade of my sewing and quilting how about that? Sewing and quilting are fun and full of adventure ... you don't believe me? I could write a book about all the sewing and quilting I have done, all the fun and frustration, all the glamorous feeling and blaaaah feeling. Well ... do you sew and quilt? Do you hand sew and quilt or partly machine and party hand sew and quilt?
I found this group of HQAL ... I think they stand for Hand Quilt Along. Hah! You can't expect a 3rd grade beginner in sewing and quilting know all these new thing. May be if I happen to be genius but no ... this lady whom really sweet and nice and patience with me - in the account of I am new in "everything" sewing, quilting and especially "blogging" goodness gracious ... I am really behind in this high tech games - her name is Kathy Reeves. She blog at Sewing Etc. She is having this HQAL. I was really interested. She said she need my blog to link with her HQAL. Lordy! Lordy! I hope this is a good word and it mean help me! help me! So ... here I am trying to be part of this HQAL, a beginner sewer and quilter ... eeheem! 3rd grade if you like and NO Blog. Therefore ... I have to start a blog. I can write another book about how to start a blog for a beginner successfully. Hahahhaha .... life is too short to be frustrated and unhappy just before you are not a high tech person. Eeemmm ... Hazel Burke once said, if you can't beat them, join them. I suppose officially I have my own blog and I am a new beginner in this blogging world. Yes ... about HQAL.
This is what Kathy Reeves at Sewing Etc said about HQAL:
"This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below."
So if you found me ... tune in and find out more about this HQAL.
Yes I do have something I am working on right now. I have been practicing on a Pumpkin Block. I have made six pumpkin blocks so far. Machine piece of course but I have every intention to hand quilt these pumpkins. May be make them into a doll quilt. Lap quilt. Wall hanging? I haven't decided yet.
I hope you are having a nice day.
