HQAL January 28
Here I am again ... saying Hello with a smile, meeting up on blogland, getting to know the other ladies at Hand Quilting Along group. It is great place to be if you want to learn a new skills or some tricks and tips. I am just talking to myself really, because I am just nervous.

Well ... honestly I never been to any HQAL before I accidentally bumped into Katty’s blog and she was so kind to chat with me and let me taking part. She just do not know how beginner beginner am I in this hand quilting business. Every three weeks we share our progress.
I didn’t have much to show last post because I didn’t have anything done in sewing or quilting. Oh yes ... I have bunches of excuses about my niece came for a visit, cooking, baking, visiting, Christmas, New Year and niece left back to college. I just didn’t get anything done then.

So ... if I don’t have anything to show off this time ... I just couldn’t find anything more excuses. So ... here I am with my doll quilt. Hah! Yes... doll quilt. I made me new pincushion too.
Suppose I wasn’t brave or ambitious enough about learning to sew or to quilt when I started. Being able to put together pieces of fabric and finishing them as a doll quilt was a big achievement for me, then and now too. But this time instead of quilting them with my home machine ... I graduating myself into hand quilting.

I have some pictures to proved it to you ... just, please do not laugh but may be get tickle a little ... hahahhaa... I got tickle myself too when I am looking at how those stitches running along the fabric. The stitches probably doesn’t look like a dizzy drunken sleepy snake may be but still I get tickle when I am looking at them.

Seriously and honestly ... for some reason I am totally enjoying myself working on this doll quilt. I was having a good time quilting this little quilt. Do you reckon this kind of activities addictive? I was surprise that I actually enjoying myself working on every stitch. Did you remember when you first started quilting by hand? Did you enjoy it or hated it? I am just curiously wondering ...
My Darling Hubby is my best critics... when I showed it to him my hand quilted squares, he said, my mom will be super proud of me if she is here to see what I have accomplished. He also said ... oh, you must be neat about the back of your quilt too. I said, huh? Is that important? Well, I guess I do need to be neat about the stitching at the back of my doll quilt too. So ... do I call myself a beginner beginner or just beginner in hand quilting?

Since I am participating in the No Buy Challenge 2018 too... all the fabrics used for the doll quilt was from my stash. Hahahha ... can you believe that, me, a beginner have fabric stash. I have a confession to make, I am planning on a Postage Quilt for my Darling Hubby and I just wondering how long will it take me to hand quilt a big size quilt. Ambitious you said? Too brave I said! At least it will make a small dent on my fabric stash. Hahahhahaa ...

Here are the pictures of my hand quilted doll quilt – half done and my pincushions, also hand quilted. Not very impressive I know but I am happy with them. Really I am. I finally conquered my fear of hand quilting!

I hope you are having a nice Sunday. Sure love to hear from you ... I am going to take the "Kids" out for munchie munchie again. See you later :)
